Teased since March, the spastic/melodic guitar/drums dichotomy that is Bygones (Zach Hill, Nick Reinhart) is finally available.

Chicago clarinetist/composer James Falzone is a gem in a robust jazz/classical mine, and here he issues the studio debut of Klang, adding three dynamic collaborators in reverence to the sounds of 1950s saxophonist Jimmy Giuffre.

Guitarist/composer Omar Rodriguez Lopez, mastermind of The Mars Volta, has tabbed drummer Zach Hill and synth bassist Jonathan Hischke of Hella as well as bassist Juan Alderete de la Peña of The Mars Volta to form a “new” group — aptly named El Grupo Nuevo de Omar Rodriguez Lopez. (more…)
