GG AllinGG Allin lives! Like Tupac and Elvis, this particularly infamous punker continues to live on in various forms of multimedia, and he’s finally made it to DVD. The documentary, entitled Hated, chronicles Allin’s insane life and includes live material so fans can finally watch him without fearing for their own lives.

You’ve probably heard a whole lot of crazy stuff about GG Allin, born Jesus Christ Allin, and all of it is probably true. Yes, he was pals with John Wayne Gacy. Yes, he took laxatives before shows to add that special, slippery touch to his on-stage defecation. Thankfully, instead of taking the easy route and filling your head with anecdotal sludge, Hated turns to friends, fans, and Allin himself for a multi-perspective take on Allin’s world.

Directed by Todd Phillips (of Road Trip, Old School, Starsky & Hutch) during his senior year at NYU, the documentary was finished just after Allin’s death in 1993. Fourteen years later, Hated comes to DVD with a slew of bonus materials, including a free poster, GG Allin temporary tattoos, an interview with Allin’s mother, and three music videos. Its release, August 7th, is being promoted by a number of screenings, most of them free to the public, around the country.

Screening Dates for Hated:

July 31 - Austin, TX @ Beerland (Free)
August 6 - Philadelphia, PA @ The Khyber (Free)
