Singer-songwriter Jolie Holland’s fourth record, The Living and the Dead, will hit stores and online October 7th. The album features an array of guest producers and collaborators, producing a sound in par with her signature moodiness, but with the unique creativity born out of a studio environment. Popular musician M. Ward, currently of She & Him, lent his production skills to one song and played guitar for two others. Other collaborators include multi-instrumentalist Ismaily, who lends bass, moog, shruti box and even duck calls, famed guitarist Marc Ribot (Tom Waits, Elvis Costello). Many songs on the album have already been performed at Union Pool in Brooklyn, Holland’s new home.
