The long-time icon of inventive pop music will perform for Late Night with Conan O’Brien one week from tonight.

Incomparable and experimental crooner Tom Waits, whose music career has spanned twenty albums, will be performing for the Friday, May 4 edition of Late Night with Conan O’Brien.

Waits’ last release was Orphans: Brawlers, Bawlers, and Bastards, a three-disc box set that Anti- released in November of 2006. The set encompasses gruff blues tunes, jazz ballads, experimental numbers, and a bevy of rare or unreleased tracks.

The highly unusual singer also recently collaborated with The Book of Knots on “Pray,” a tune from the group’s second album that can be heard at its MySpace page.
