ALARM threw a party in celebration of Dub Trio’s latest record Another Sound is Dying (Ipecac, vinyl on ROIR) at The Subterranean in Chicago on February 27. Sure, it was cold outside, but a night of dub and rock combined with generous specials from Red Stripe let concertgoers imagine they were far, far away.

The Jai-Alai Savant started out the night with their upbeat punk/dub fusion and was joined by  The Eternals’ Damon Locks on guest vocals on “The Low Frequent See” and “Diary of Mass Trappists”. Brooklyn’s Foreign Islands’ electro punk had everyone dancing, and had several ladies in the audience swooning for more.

Dub Trio took to the stage in front of a packed house including a mix of metalheads, hippies, electro-geeks, dub-aficionados and rockers. They awed the crowd with their diverse blend of genres, dazzling musicianship, and unstoppable energy as they performed songs off of Another Sound… as well as favorites like “Cool Out and Co-Exist” from New Heavy.
