According to Nick Cave, little effort was made to differentiate the sound on the new album from that of the Bad Seeds’ garage rock project Grinderman, which debuted just last year. In a description of the forthcoming release on their website, Cave also reveals the inspiration for Dig: Cave’s childhood fascination and disgust with the eponymous biblical legend, which he coupled with his admiration for Harry Houdini. Besides a rumored “gigantic tour” (excluding the U.S.) to follow the release of Dig, Lazarus, Dig!!!, a series of YouTube videos are being produced to promote the album, and a video for the title track has already been made and can be seen on the official Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds website.
