heavy2.jpgBritish funk ensemble The Heavy are set to release a new album. Counter Records is co-releasing Great Vengeance and Furious Fire with +1 Records, a branch of the management and publicity company of the same name.

The band describes itself as “heavy as fuck” and draws their sound from blaxploitation films and fuzzy, group-sing garage rock. They will perform in the US for the first time at SXSW 2008, and a US tour is in the works.

The album, titled Great Vengeance and Furious Fire, will be released on April 8. Watch the video for “That Kind of Man” below.
