In a rigorous timed battle among creative fashion hopefuls, contestants compete to win the favor of a panel of celebrity guest judges by whatever means necessary — most naturally, the vintage garments and recyclable materials at hand to put on audience members as models. Selected DJs spin tracks behind the battleground as the madness ensues. The winner of Chicago’s Style War receives $1000 in cash and prizes, and will join the fashion champion of each other participating city (New York City, San Francisco, Miami, Los Angeles) in New York City for the Style Wars Grand Finale coming later this year. The tour’s celebrity judges have included Casey Spooner (half of electro-duo Fischerspooner), rapper Princess Superstar, and Whitney Museum curator Shamim Momin. The Chicago show begins at 8 pm; tickets are $7 in advance and $10 at the door. Interested contestants should register on moli.com, add Style Wars as a friend, and send its profile a message about competing. House of Diehl, collectively MJ Diehl and Roman Milisic, is a prominent name in fashion and entertainment.
